Heath Ledger, the young Australian actor best known for his Academy Award-nominated role in the 2005 film Brokeback Mountain was found dead this morning at 9:30am Melbourne time in a New York City apartment. He was 28.
I never knew him. I never met him. And yet I am incredibly saddened by this news. It seems such a terrible loss; of a life, of a talent, of a future.
Tonight, when I get home from work, I think I will re-watch Brokeback Mountain, and cry.

Funny thing. I am planning to watch Brokeback tonight as well. I think I will also need a bottle or two of tbe bets red wine to wash the film down.
me too - it's exactly what I did last night ... it was funny watching it again - Heath did an amazing job really.
How same/different is the young guy at the start of the film on Brokeback, to the old guy at the end of the film in the cabin?
But for my fourth viewing - last night I only really bawled (and bawled) at the visit to Jack's parents scene.
Thanks for what you left behind Heath.
The woman who plays Jake's mum in those scenes is amazing. As was Heath, throughout the entire movie. *sigh*
i think i'll need to leave a little time before i watch it again. i bawled the first time i saw it. and the second.
it's very very sad. and it was such a good movie.
hey richard how are you? long time no speak.
It was quite weird - I was always quite indifferent to Ledger - never gave him much thought really - then when I heard he'd died I was surprisingly very saddened and shocked by the news - I think only now I've started to appreciate him as an actor.
